In recognition of the growing importance of interactive computing in support of management education, the IBM Corporation agreed to sponsor a two-week program on the subject in the summer of 1975. Modelled after the highly successful program at the University of Michigan, which introduced business school educators to the use of FORTRAN, this program was aimed at accomplishing the same goal, this time with the interactive computer language APL. Approximately two dozen management school professors were to be invited to come to the Graduate School of Management (GSM) at UCLA and to be involved in an intensive learning experience.
